What to watch for​

When first starting PRIMAXA ODT, it’s important to know the body may adjust as it gets used to treatment. It’s common to experience mild side effects at first. The most frequent side effects are trouble with coordination or balance and dizziness. These effects are usually temporary and fade over time as the body adjusts to PRIMAXA ODT.

Other serious side effects may include:

  • Severe sleepiness, especially when first taking PRIMAXA ODT or trouble staying awake
  • Blood problems, which are rare, include symptoms of:
    • fever, swollen glands, or sore throat that does not go away
    • tiredness
    • shortness of breath
  • Allergic reactions, which are rare, include symptoms of:
    • skin rash
    • hives
    • mouth sores
    • blistering or peeling skin
If you see or suspect any of these side effects, contact your prescribing doctor immediately.

For Caregivers​

Always keep a list of your and your child’s medications with you. If you need to contact your doctor about potential side effects or medication adjustments, they will need this information.

What you can do​

Pay attention to how your child is feeling physically and emotionally

Tell your child’s doctor right away if something feels off especially in their mood or behavior

Write it down: Even small changes or side effects are worth noting
